Leaders must be trustable

As a new leader you are granted trustability to some degree. This is determined by your past and the past of the organization. If you past is a full of events where you fulfilled your word than a high level of trust will be granted to you. If you are brand new as a leader with no past, most people will grant you a “trust credit”. You will increase or decrease your “trust credit”.

If the organization you are leading has a history of untrustworthy leaders you will be viewed through the lens of previous leaders. Just continue to press forward and you will gain trustability and be trusted.

Once your people begin to see that you can be trusted than your enthusiasm and optimism of the future will begin to accepted and bought into.

One caution before I go, though it takes a day-by-day process to gain trustability, it only takes a moment to lose trustability. Keep you word and think before you speak.
